Agthia completes Riviere acquisition, cements its position in bottled water market

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) 

Agthia Group, one of the region’s leading food and beverage companies, has successfully completed the 100% acquisition of Riviere Mineral Water Desalination & Filling Factory, according to a media statement. 

The deal further cements Agthia’s position as a market leader in the UAE’s bottled water segment.

Riviere is one of the largest players in the UAE’s home and office services (HOS) category, boasting a strong presence in the mainstream bottled water segment. First announced in March, the acquisition is expected to be immediately earnings accretive and will drive an estimated 6.5% increase in revenue for Agthia’s Water & Food segment.

Chief Executive Officer of Agthia Group, Alan Smith, commented, “The successful closing of this acquisition marks another milestone in Agthia’s journey of strategic growth and market leadership in the water segment. Riviere’s strong brand, deep customer relationships, and operational excellence perfectly complement our existing capabilities.”

Riviere brings with it three bottling facilities across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, a fleet of over 160 delivery trucks, and more than 780 employees. The integration is set to improve manufacturing efficiency, streamline logistics, and expand Agthia’s household customer base threefold.

Co-owner, Ali Moideen Kankayel, expressed confidence in the transition, “Riviere has built a legacy of trust and customer-first service. As we move forward with Agthia, I am confident this partnership will elevate customer experience and open new paths for growth.”

Riviere will continue operating under its existing brand, ensuring continuity for its customers.

Established in 2004 and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Agthia is part of ADQ and operates across multiple countries, with a diversified portfolio spanning water, snacking, protein, and agri-business categories, reaching consumers in more than 65 markets worldwide.
