ADNOC Drilling has announced the appointment of Abdulla Ateya Al Messabi as its new Chief Executive Officer.
The company’s current CEO, Abdulrahman Abdulla Al Seiari, will retire at the end of the year following more than 45 years of dedicated service to ADNOC and ADNOC Drilling, a statement from the company said.
Seiari will continue in an advisory role until the end of 2025 to ensure a smooth leadership transition, the statement added.
The appointment was confirmed by the Board of Directors of ADNOC Drilling, which is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
Commenting on the leadership transition, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO and Chairman of ADNOC Drilling, said: “We extend our deep appreciation to Abdulrahman for more than four decades of distinguished service to ADNOC and ADNOC Drilling. Under his leadership, the company has transformed into one of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced energy services providers.”

Al Seiari played a pivotal role in ADNOC Drilling’s evolution, including overseeing its landmark initial public offering, which was 31 times oversubscribed. His tenure marked a period of significant transformation and technological advancement for the company.
Al Messabi previously served as CEO of ADNOC Sour Gas and ADNOC Refining. He is recognised for delivering operational excellence, business transformation, and sustainable growth across ADNOC’s upstream and downstream operations.
ADNOC Drilling reaffirmed its commitment to regional expansion, technology integration, and sustainable value creation under the new leadership. The company remains the largest drilling and integrated drilling services operator in the Middle East by fleet size.
