ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Enjoy the best young musical talent Abu Dhabi has to offer as the Youth Orchestra and Choir return to the Cultural Foundation Auditorium this Saturday, April 12, for "A Tribute to Jazz Music".The orchestra will perform a programme that explores the influence of jazz on classical music. Highlights of the evening will be iconic pieces by American composers George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, including selections from the famous musical West Side Story.
The Youth Orchestra is now an established platform for young musicians in the capital to express their talent in music, through educational programmes, rehearsals and concerts throughout the year.
The project is a collaboration between the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi and the International Music Institute, founded in 1994 to organise a programme open to all music students in the UAE. The students who take part are selected through an audition process.
The selected students become members of the Youth Orchestra and Choir and join a programme consisting of free-of-charge weekly rehearsals and workshops led by highly qualified instructors.
In addition, the students have the opportunity to perform in concerts and prestigious venues across the UAE.
Entry to the performance is free.
