US President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the United States would lower tariffs "if a country agrees to open its market".
"I will only lower tariffs if a country agrees to open its market," he said in a post on Truth Social.
"If not, much higher tariffs! Japan's market are now open (for first time ever!). USA businesses will boom!" the post added.
Trump's post followed reports that Washington had reached agreements with Japan, Indonesia and Philippines.
