In pursuit of achieving its research objectives and global intellectual vision, TRENDS Research & Advisory participated in the recent World Economic Forum, held under the theme "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age".

Equipped with a wealth of in-depth studies and insightful perspectives, TRENDS showcased its commitment to fostering intellectual and research collaboration, building international partnerships, and engaging in global dialogues on coexistence, tolerance, and countering violence and extremism. The Centre also reaffirmed its commitment to foreseeing the future and providing innovative solutions to global challenges in this era of advanced technology and AI.

Believing in its mission and goals, TRENDS held discussions during the forum on its study titled "The Future of Renewable Energy: Financing Challenges and Prosperity Opportunities".

The study explores financial and technological challenges and highlights promising opportunities in the renewable energy sector. It proposes favourable solutions to accelerate the global transition to sustainable energy sources to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It recommends cooperation between governments and the private sector, establishing international partnerships, investing in research and development, and addressing funding gaps through climate funds, international banks, and foreign direct investments. The aim is to drive innovation, combat climate change, and achieve global sustainable development.

In a panel session organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition for Global Ethics, TRENDS presented a research paper titled: "The Economics of Peace in the Middle East and the Global Arena: Strategies to Prevent Future Conflicts". The paper highlighted the rise of armed conflicts in the Middle East and the world at large and their negative effects on economies, development, stability, investments, and human development plans.

Drawing from the UAE's pioneering experience as a regional and global leader in human development indicators, TRENDS highlighted the country's unique policies in combating hate speech and extremism, building bridges of peace with others, and investing in the human mind through quality education to promote development and stability.

To further expand its global presence, TRENDS launched its virtual office in Geneva, the capital of international diplomacy and politics. This new office, the Center's 18th worldwide, reflects its commitment to broadening its research network and developing intellectual partnerships across Europe.

Through collaboration and cultural dialogue, TRENDS aims to deliver impactful research and studies that tackle global challenges, anticipate emerging trends, and use knowledge and innovation to address risks and capitalise on opportunities in our ever-evolving world.

To mark the launch of TRENDS-Geneva and highlight the pivotal role of AI in our daily life, an unveiling of its "AI Trends" series was held at the Abraham House in Davos. The inaugural edition, titled: "The AI Technology Race and Great Power Rivalry," explores the latest advancements in AI and their repercussions on the economy, politics, society, culture, and international relations.

This series seeks to keep decision-makers updated on the latest technological developments, show how to localize technology for solving problems and address the risks of AI misuse. Additionally, it offers a forward-looking perspective on the future of AI and its applications in everyday life.

Throughout the forum, the TRENDS research delegation engaged actively in discussions and building partnerships with policymakers, experts, and specialists on pivotal issues, including science, economics, and advanced technology. Notably, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, participated in one of the panel discussions, where he praised the Centre's active efforts in global forums.

TRENDS remains committed to building bridges between cultures and promoting intellectual dialogue to create a more stable and prosperous world. Its participation in Davos for the second consecutive year confirms its rising prominence among global think tanks and academic circles.

Through its external offices, TRENDS continues to open more channels for intellectual and research collaboration in a way that supports decision-makers globally, develops comprehensive policies and strategies across diverse fields. These efforts are eventually aimed at supporting global sustainable development plans while achieving the Center's goals of spreading the values of intellectual cooperation and partnership regionally and globally.
