SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)

Showcasing its proactive digital services at the World Crisis & Emergency Management Summit 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Emiratis abroad, regardless of the situation and wherever they may be.

In an interview with Aletihad, the ministry elaborated on services that help fast-track its response to citizens' needs abroad. As is the case during the pandemic, when the world saw abrupt airport closures, these concerted efforts enable the UAE to quickly connect to its people and safely fly them home in times of crisis.

Among these initiatives are the Twajudi service, the Return Document service, the Travel Guidance page, and Emergency Hotline (+97180024) - all allowing Emiratis to easily reach MoFA whenever necessary, and vice-versa.

Twajudi

Twajudi is a service that seeks to facilitate communication with UAE nationals abroad, providing assistance and coordinating repatriation during emergencies. MoFA has streamlined registration, making it easy for all. Citizens and their families, including elderly individuals and people of determination, can sign up on the platform via the Ministry's website, mobile app, or even WhatsApp.

Return Document

The Return Document service supports Emiratis encountering passport issues abroad, such as lost, damaged, or expired passports. Citizens can quickly apply for this document through MoFA's website or mobile app, and receive it via e-mail and SMS within 30 minutes to facilitate their return to their homeland.

Travel Guidance Page

The travel guidance page is a digital platform that provides real-time information by destination, allowing Emirati travellers to get the latest updates about visa exemptions, laws, customs regulations, holidays, among others.

A warnings and alerts section can also be found on this page, allowing citizens to be informed immediately in case of declared natural disasters or political unrest.

Emergency Hotline

The ministry has also set up an emergency hotline (+97180024), which is operational 24 hours daily. An Emirati who is experiencing any emergency while overseas is advised to contact this hotline.

The nearest UAE mission will give an immediate response to provide any kind of assistance, wherever the citizen may be.

Rased Platform

Recently launched, the Rased platform aims to address security challenges and enhances the safety and security of UAE missions abroad.

Early Warning System for All

In August 2024, a digital platform - called "Early Warning System for All" - was launched In collaboration with and the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Designed to monitor weather conditions and natural disasters globally, the initiative sought to ensure the safety of UAE citizens abroad by providing timely warnings during severe weather and natural disasters.

This platform is one of MoFA's ongoing transformation projects, which are gradually replacing paper-based correspondence tools.

Once the system records an incident, the ministry receives instant notification via e-mail and/or SMS, allowing for a response from the 24-hour team straight away.

Given the careful consideration of the early warning system vis-a-vis the safety of the Emirati travellers worldwide, the system flashes updates and risk alerts related to weather threats or natural disasters to Emiratis traveling for business, tourism, or education.

The platform ensures a swift flow of information between MoFA and NCM to respond to emergencies within the shortest time possible of such happenings and devise measures to protect and assist UAE nationals.
