In a compassionate move highlighting its community policing values, Dubai Police's Naif Police Station successfully mediated a family dispute between a teenage girl and her parents after the girl had chosen to stay at her friend's house due to escalating tensions at home.
Brigadier Omar Ashour, Acting Director of Naif Police Station, explained that the parents approached the station seeking assistance in resolving the issue and persuading their daughter to return home.
The Victim Support Unit swiftly stepped in, arranging a reconciliation session after carefully listening to both sides.
Due to the efforts of Sergeant Zahra Abdul Hamid Ishaq and Corporal Hassan Ali Alblooshi's, the session resulted in a peaceful resolution and a renewed understanding between the teenager and her parents.
Brigadier Ashour praised the team's dedication and highlighted the human-centred nature of the Victim Support Programme, which is implemented by Dubai Police's General Department of Criminal Investigation.
"The initiative focuses on supporting victims of criminal and traffic incidents by offering legal advice, emotional support, and mediation when needed," he said.
Brigadier Ashour emphasised that the programme aims to strengthen community trust, prevent legal escalation of personal disputes, and provide high-quality support to victims in accordance with legal procedures.
He also called on parents to be mindful of their children's emotional development and to navigate teenage challenges with patience, understanding, and wise guidance.
The girl's mother expressed her gratitude to Dubai Police for their swift response and heartfelt assistance, stating that their support played a vital role in restoring family harmony
