Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwomen of the Family Development Foundation, the 16th edition of the EmiratesSkills National Competition (ESNC), the largest technical and vocational skills event in the UAE, will take place from 28-30 April 2025 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

Alongside the competition, ACTVET will also host the TVET Leaders Forum on April 28, 2025, at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

Under the theme, AI for All, this year’s event will emphasise the importance of artificial intelligence, the use of technology, and its future impact on technical and vocational fields.

The forum will highlight the importance of artificial intelligence and its pivotal role in addressing societal challenges. It will also focus on advancing technical and vocational training through innovative approaches that align with sustainable development strategies and contribute to building national competencies.

Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, said: “The Centre aims to solidify its position as a leading national hub for AI-driven innovation, shaping the future of education and training, and equipping national talent with the skills needed for tomorrow’s job market.”

He added, “The forum will explore how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to advance education and vocational training, drive institutional development, and enhance governance—further strengthening the centre’s position as a leading national hub for innovation and smart technologies.”

Importance of AI

The three-day competition aims to showcase the best national talent in technical skills, bringing together Emirati youth to compete in 34 technical and vocational fields across junior and senior categories. These include Aircraft Maintenance, Industrial Control, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Automobile Technology, Web Technologies, Graphic Design Technology, Electronics, and more.

ESNC serves as a valuable national platform celebrating technical and vocational education, attracting Emirati youth aged between 16 and 21, except for the Aircraft Maintenance skill which accepts competitors up to age 24 years.

ESNC also showcases young Emirati students aged 12 to 15, who will compete in nine skills: Future Coders, Autonomous Mobile Robotics, Automobile Technology, Public Speaking, Painting and Decorating, Electronics, Electrical Installations, Mechanical Engineering CAD and Health and Social Care, aiming to instil a competitive spirit in them from an early age and ensure the development of national competencies aligned with the aspirations of UAE and the directives of the wise leadership.

In addition to the main competition, an international-friendly skills competition will take place, bringing together participants from five countries worldwide. Emirati youth will join their peers from various nations to compete in 13 technical and vocational skills, preparing for future international competitions.
