ABU DHABI (WAM)
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the Al Mughira Grand Kingfish Championship for Women commenced on Friday, May 2, 2025, as part of the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship series 2024 - 2025.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the competition took place from three main locations: Abu Dhabi, Al Mirfa, and Delma Island.
The Championship will witness the participation of 105 anglers from 12 nationalities, who will compete for total cash prizes valued up to Dh800,000.
Organisers said the event reflects Abu Dhabi's vision to preserve the UAE’s marine heritage and promote sustainable heritage sports, noting that dedicating the Championship to women comes in appreciation of their active role in society and various fields.
