The cardiology medical team successfully treated a 31-year-old patient who suffered multiple life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias on arrival in Madinat Zayed Hospital (MZH) and was admitted many times.

In a press statement on Tuesday, SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, stated that the cardiology team's rapid response, including multiple resuscitations and immediate coronary intervention, saved the patient's life, demonstrating the hospital's advanced capabilities in managing complex cardiac emergencies.

The patient, who had no prior history of heart disease, presented at MZH's emergency department with severe chest pain. An electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed an extensive anterior myocardial infarction, a life-threatening condition where a large portion of the heart's front wall loses blood supply due to a blocked artery.

During the urgent catheterisation procedure, the patient experienced the first of three cardiac arrests. The hospital's rapid response team successfully performed multiple resuscitations and cleared the blocked coronary artery, restoring normal blood flow to the heart. After the procedure, the patient remained stable, and he experienced full recovery of his heart function, and no arrhythmias happened later. After optimising his medications, he was discharged in a stable condition to his normal life.

This case highlights the critical nature of heart disease in the region. According to the World Heart Federation, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the Middle East and North Africa, claiming approximately 1.4 million lives annually.

Dr. Hazem Hamzat, Consultant Cardiologist at MZH, said, "This case underscores the urgent need for individuals experiencing any symptoms of a heart attack, such as chest pain or discomfort, to seek immediate medical attention."

"Time is of the essence in these situations. Our team of highly skilled cardiologists and advanced medical equipment played a pivotal role in saving this patient's life. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of cardiac care to the community and ensuring that every patient receives the timely and effective treatment they deserve," he added.

Pakash Babu Sode Krishna Murthy, Cardiovascular Technician at MZH, said, "The rapid response and coordinated efforts of the entire team, coupled with the cutting-edge technology in our catheter laboratory, were instrumental in preventing further complications and ensuring a successful outcome.

Such a collaborative approach, combined with advanced medical resources, is essential for providing the highest quality of care to patients in need at Madinat Zayed Hospital."

With 24/7 cardiology services, a highly skilled medical team, and state-of-the-art equipment, MZH is well-prepared to manage life-threatening cardiac emergencies in the Al Dhafra region. By extending world-class medical services from Abu Dhabi to the interior regions, SEHA is ensuring healthcare excellence across the emirate.
