The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) announced the highest temperature recorded in the UAE on Saturday, May 24 was 51.6°C in Al Ain's Sweihan at 1:45 pm.
In a post on "X," the NCM said that the highest temperatures recorded across the country on Saturday include the following:
- Sweihan: 51.6°C at 1:45 pm
- Al Shawamekh: 50.1°C at 1:15 pm
- Ashaab: 49.9°C at 2:00 pm
- Raknah: 49.7°C at 2:15 pm
- Saih Al Salem: 49.5°C at 1:45 pm
Both those temperatures exceeded a previous record for the month of 50.2°C recorded in May 2009, according to the meteorology office.
The meteorology office told AFP the highest ever temperature recorded in the UAE since documentation began in 2003 was reported at 52°C on Abu Dhabi's Al Yasat Island in 2010.
