Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has launched its annual summer awareness campaign with a clear message to customers: set your air conditioners to 24°C and save energy.
Now in its twelfth consecutive year, the campaign runs under the slogan "Set and Save at 24°C", and is part of Empower’s broader drive to promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions. The initiative targets over 144,000 of the company’s customers across Dubai and aims to encourage a small behavioural change that can make a big environmental impact.
Empower says that keeping ACs on auto mode at 24°C not only eases pressure on the electricity grid during peak summer demand but also helps cut down on carbon emissions and supports national environmental goals.
The company’s district cooling systems already use up to 50% less energy than traditional systems, and this campaign is an effort to take the energy efficiency message directly to residents and businesses.
"Fostering a culture of responsible energy usage has become a national imperative and a shared responsibility that requires the collaboration of all members of society," said Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower. "At Empower, we are committed to leading sustainability efforts by providing innovative cooling solutions that optimise energy use."
Bin Shafar added that the 24°C campaign serves as a reminder that small actions, like adjusting one’s thermostat, can have a large impact. “Building a green economy doesn’t only happen through policy; it starts at home, in our offices, and in our daily habits,” he said.
