The Positive Spirit Council has launched the ‘Shade and Reward’ initiative to raise awareness among 300 labourers about the dangers of high-temperature areas, providing them with umbrellas to help prevent heat stress as they move between locations.

The initiative was carried out in cooperation with the Police Station Directors’ Council, suburban police points, the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police, and the ‘Thank You for Your Giving Volunteer’ team.

The event was attended by Ms. Fatima Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council; Major Hamad Al Shamsi, Head of the Labor Rights Section at the General Department of Human Rights; First Lieutenant Obaid Al Muhairi from Al Eyas Police Point; Dr. Aisha Al Falasi, an honourary member of the ‘Thank You for Your Giving Volunteer Team’; and Mr. Saif Al Rahman Amir, the team leader.

Held at Al Eyas Police Point, the initiative benefited 300 workers, who received umbrellas and valuable tips on preventing heat stress and sunstroke. Participants were reminded of the importance of staying hydrated and following essential safety guidelines.

Moreover, the General Department of Human Rights also provided labourers with essential information about their legal rights and the services available through Dubai Police.

Meanwhile, Ms. Fatima Buhajeer emphasized that this initiative is part of Dubai Police's initiatives to celebrate the Year of Community. “It aims to launch impactful programs that foster a culture of shared responsibility and align with the 'Positive Spirit' initiative, which enhances security, safety, and community engagement across all sectors.

"Additionally, it aims to improve quality of life, promote social harmony, and instill values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for others,” Buhajeer added.
