ABU DHABI (WAM)
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has secured membership in the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) under the "Contributing Members" category. This milestone makes ADJD the first institution in the Middle East to attain this prestigious international membership.
The achievement marks a new chapter in strengthening international cooperation and developing a fully integrated working environment, thereby contributing to establishing a system founded on the principles of justice, transparency, and innovation.
Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, ADJD Undersecretary, affirmed that joining the association reflects the department’s commitment to adopting the best developmental policies and the highest professional and technological standards in the management and operation of correctional and rehabilitation facilities.
This initiative, he said, aligns with the vision of wise leadership, which seeks to establish an innovative and sustainable reformative approach that reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination in adopting advanced justice systems based on human values and innovation.
Al Abri pointed out that membership in the ICPA provides access to the latest systems, technologies, methodologies, and best practices in managing correctional and rehabilitation centres. It facilitates ongoing exposure to the latest international experiences and enhances the benefits of public-private partnerships in this field.
He further emphasised the continued development efforts in the correctional and rehabilitation sector and the pursuit of operations and tasks in accordance with the highest standards in inmate care, rehabilitation, and reform.
