TRENDS Research & Advisory hosted the Executive Director of the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative, Ayesha Al Ateeqi, for a panel discussion.

It covered the initiative's objectives and vision for enhancing global water security, and ways to expand research collaboration between the two entities to develop innovative and sustainable solutions that address the global challenges of water scarcity.

The CEO of TRENDS, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, welcomed the initiative's delegation at the beginning of the session, praising its pioneering role locally and internationally.

He emphasised that water security is a research priority for TRENDS, noting that the centre devotes special attention to it by issuing studies and reports, organising seminars, and actively participating in international scientific forums.

The most recent was its prominent participation in the Dushanbe International Water Conference in Tajikistan, which discussed global water-related challenges and strategies to address them.

Dr. Al Ali emphasised the importance of building knowledge partnerships with quality initiatives, such as the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative, to support international efforts and promote scientific innovation, particularly in areas most affected by water scarcity.

He also emphasised TRENDS’ readiness to offer research expertise and specialised knowledge.

Al Ateeqi reviewed the initiative's objectives, which were launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The initiative aims to empower communities with access to clean water and enhance opportunities for dignified living in areas of water scarcity.

She emphasised that the initiative adopts an approach based on innovation and integrating knowledge and technology to mitigate the effects of climate change on water resources.

Al Ateeqi highlighted the importance of integrating research and scientific efforts with specialised institutions such as TRENDS.

This integration directly impacts the development of practical solutions based on scientific foundations.

She also called for expanding international cooperation and promoting a culture of sustainability and collective responsibility in addressing water-related challenges.

The participation of several specialists and experts from the centre enriched the discussion.

Participants reviewed some of the research reports and future studies currently being developed by TRENDS, along with guiding plans to develop research projects related to the water field.
