EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has called a video conference of foreign ministers for Tuesday in view of the military escalation in the Middle East.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange views and coordinate diplomatic efforts, a Kallas aide said in Brussels on Sunday. Possible next steps will also be discussed, he said.
"We believe that diplomacy must prevail," Kallas said in a statement.
"The EU will continue to contribute to all diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and to find a lasting solution to the Iranian nuclear issue which can only be through a negotiated deal," it said.
