SAKINA, the leading mental health network under SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare platform in the Middle East, on Wednesday announced a strategic collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Middle East, a global leader in healthcare innovation.
The two entities formalised their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to elevate mental healthcare standards, drive transformative patient-centred solutions, and advance service delivery across Abu Dhabi.
This landmark alliance will catalyse cross-sector expertise to address critical challenges in mental health, including public awareness, stigma reduction, and workforce empowerment through specialised clinical training and education. Aligned with Abu Dhabi’s visionary 2030 healthcare agenda, the partnership underscores the Emirate’s dedication to pioneering cutting-edge healthcare infrastructure and fostering holistic well-being for its communities.
The MoU was ceremonially signed by Dr. Zain Ali Alyafei, Chief Executive Officer of SAKINA, and Pedro Matos Rosa, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Gulf, during an exclusive event attended by senior healthcare leaders, government dignitaries, and regional influencers.
Dr. Zain Al Yafei, Chief Executive Officer of SAKINA remarked: “Today marks a transformative chapter in regional mental health. By uniting SAKINA’s localised expertise with Johnson & Johnson’s global legacy of innovation, we will redefine care paradigms through groundbreaking research, community-centric awareness campaigns, and world-class clinical upskilling. This collaboration is a testament to SAKINA’s mission of driving systemic change through strategic alliances, and a seminal step toward establishing Abu Dhabi as a beacon of mental health excellence.

Together, we will pioneer stigma-free, inclusive care models while leveraging our scientific leadership to empower Abu Dhabi’s communities with innovative tools and sustainable solutions.”
SAKINA will lead the collaboration through its integrated ecosystem of outpatient hubs, neurodiversity centres, inpatient facilities, and home care services. This infrastructure is augmented by Pura, PureHealth’s AI-enabled health app, which delivers personalised care pathways, seamless monitoring, and tertiary psychiatric support to diverse populations.
The partnership exemplifies Abu Dhabi’s ambition to lead in healthcare innovation and life sciences. By merging SAKINA’s regional leadership with Johnson & Johnson’s global R&D prowess, the collaboration will accelerate the development of a seamless, patient-first mental healthcare ecosystem – setting a gold standard for care quality and accessibility in the MENA region.
